Poco has a new X-series out — the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max, we have the Poco X8 Pro Google Camera 9.3, just like the rest and this time there’s no plain X8 in the mix. The Pro Max gets the flashier chip and sits at the top of the range.
Camera-wise, not much has changed from last year’s X7 line. Same story as before though: you can squeeze more out of the hardware by sideloading a GCam mod.

Poco X8 Pro specs
MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, up to 12GB RAM, 512GB storage. 6.67-inch AMOLED at 120Hz, 1.5K resolution. The camera setup is a 50MP Sony IMX882 (Light Fusion 600) with f/1.5 aperture, 1/1.96″ sensor, 0.8-micron pixels, and OIS, plus an 8MP ultrawide. Runs HyperOS, packs a 5,500mAh battery with fast charging. The Pro Max swaps in the beefier Dimensity 9500s.
Google Camera 9.3 on the X8 Pro
That 50MP sensor uses 4-in-1 pixel binning to pull in more light per shot, and out of the box you’re stuck with the standard Xiaomi/Poco camera app — fine, but nothing special.
Since both chipsets are new, GCam devs haven’t caught up fully yet. We tested a few ports and found three that actually work.
GCam 9.3 is built off the Pixel 9 camera stack, so you get Night Sight, Astrophotography, slow-mo, better HDR, RAW shooting, and Google Lens — and all of it runs fine on the X8 Pro’s hardware.

Camera2 API support means installing a GCam port is straightforward on both phones. Three APKs, all tested and working:
Uninstall any old GCam version before installing a new one — these are unofficial builds, so don’t be shocked if something’s buggy.
