Xiaomi’s new Mijia 7kg washing machine is on sale in Germany for €399. That undercuts the 8kg version by €50, though you give up a kilo of drum and some spin speed for it.

The German Xiaomi shop lists it at €399. The 8kg model launched at €449 (MSRP €499). This is a washer only. If you want drying too, look at the Mijia washer-dryer instead.
Size
The machine is 59.8 cm wide, 45 cm deep and 85 cm tall. Xiaomi quotes 42.1 cm for the depth, but that excludes the door, so plan for 45 cm. A typical front-loader is around 60 cm deep, so this fits spots where a normal machine won’t. It weighs 52 kg and comes in white only.
Capacity and spin speed
It holds up to 7 kg. That’s fine for one or two people and tight for a family that does a big wash every few days. The maximum spin speed is [confirm: 1,200 or 1,400 rpm], against up to 1,400 rpm on the 8kg model.
Programs and app control
The touchscreen has 14 programs. The Xiaomi Home app adds 16 more and lets you start and monitor a wash from your phone. “My Time” mode lets you set the duration, temperature and number of rinses.
The 15-minute quick wash is meant for 1 to 2 kg of laundry. Steam can be added to some programs. There’s also an auto fluff option for when you forget the wet laundry in the drum, but it’s off until you enable it in the app.
Energy use
Xiaomi claims the machine uses 20% less energy than the class A limit. It still carries a plain class A label, with no extra grade for the improvement. The 8kg model is rated 30% below the limit.
