Xiaomi started rolling out HyperOS 4 globally on Tuesday, November 3, beginning with the POCO F8 Pro. The same day, reports surfaced that seven Redmi and POCO phones won’t get the Android 16-based build they were supposed to receive.

HyperOS 4 Skips 7 Redmi and POCO Phones: Full List

The first phones to get HyperOS 4

The POCO F8 Pro goes first. Reports say the first group also covers the Xiaomi 17 series, the POCO F8 Ultra and several Redmi Note 15 models. You can check for the update under Settings > About phone > HyperOS version.

The seven phones that miss out

XiaomiTime says Xiaomi dropped HyperOS 4 for these devices:

  • Redmi K60 Pro
  • Redmi K70 Pro
  • Redmi Note 13 Pro+
  • Redmi Note 13 Pro
  • Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G
  • POCO X6 5G
  • POCO M6 Pro 4G

Xiaomi hasn’t said anything officially. The list comes from industry reports, so it could change, and outlets don’t fully agree on the names. An earlier report put the Redmi A5 4G, Redmi Note 14S and POCO C71 on a similar list.

Why these phones, probably

HyperOS 4 looks like an Android 17 project. A code analysis found that 108 of 112 Android 17 devices are already in HyperOS 4 testing, while Android 16 phones have no test builds at all. Xiaomi most likely decided a separate Android 16 version wasn’t worth the effort. That’s an inference from the code, not something the company has said.

What owners should expect

Your phone keeps working and stays on its current HyperOS version. Security patches continue for a while, though the end date depends on the model. Support data for the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G and POCO M6 Pro 4G points to security updates until early 2028. Look up your exact model on Xiaomi’s support page.

If you’re shopping, check the update policy before the specs. The POCO F8 Pro and Xiaomi 17 series are in the first HyperOS 4 group, so they’ll see the update soonest.

FAQ

Is HyperOS 4 based on Android 16?
For most phones, no. It’s aimed at Android 17 devices. The Android 16 build is the one these seven models reportedly lose.

Will my Redmi Note 13 Pro stop working?
No. You just won’t get HyperOS 4 features, and security patches continue for a limited time.

Has Xiaomi confirmed this?
Not yet. Until it does, treat the list as a report.
