Xiaomi’s cheapest Mijia suitcases cost about 200 yuan. This one costs 1,699. The new Mijia Metal Suitcase is a 20-inch aluminum carry-on priced at roughly $240 to $255, depending on the exchange rate. Crowdfunding on Xiaomi Youpin is due to open October 21, with shipping listed for October 29, 2026. Colors are Light Silver and Titanium.

A rivet-free aluminum shell
The shell is 5000-series aluminum-magnesium alloy, and the frame is 6000-series aluminum-magnesium-silicon. The notable change is that you can’t see a single rivet. The 2017 Mijia metal suitcase had 74 of them. Xiaomi says hiding the fasteners takes about 150 manufacturing steps. Zinc alloy guards protect the corners, and the horizontal stripes from earlier Mijia luggage are still there.
Wheels and handle
The wheels are HINOMOTO spinners with metal bearings, a TPE coating and 6mm of shock absorption. Xiaomi quotes an SGS-certified noise level under 43dB and says they lost less than 2mm of tread over 72km of testing. The aluminum handle has four height settings. Xiaomi says it passed 18,000 extensions and retractions, though that is the company’s own figure.

Capacity and interior
The 37-liter body fits a three- to five-day trip if you pack light. There are two compartments with U-shaped zippers and two accessory pockets. The lining is peach-skin velvet, which Xiaomi says blocks 99% of common bacteria.
One-touch TSA lock
A single TSA-approved combination lock opens both clasps at once. Older designs needed two separate locks. The carrying handles return slowly, and the hinges are electroplated.

Youpin crowdfunding is how Xiaomi tests demand for new products. No global release has been announced, so buyers outside China will probably have to go through a reseller.
