PROS

  1. Supercar-level power (990 hp) and a genuine ~7:22 Nürburgring lap time for SUV money
  2. Fast charging — 10–80% in around 12 minutes on the 800V platform
  3. Strong price-to-performance ratio versus rivals like the Model Y Performance or Macan Turbo Electric

CONS

  1. China-only — no confirmed export plans, so buyers elsewhere can't get it
  2. Range is CLTC-rated only; real-world WLTP/EPA-equivalent range is likely lower and unverified

Xiaomi YU7 GT tops the YU7 electric SUV range, built by Xiaomi EV in Beijing. Above it: nothing. Below it: the standard YU7, Pro, and Max. Dual motor, all-wheel drive, coupe-SUV shape. The thing that actually matters here — a $57,000 Chinese SUV ran the Nürburgring Nordschleife in about 7:22. That’s the same range as cars costing two to three times as much. I don’t fully know what to do with that fact except repeat it.

Front motor: 288 kW (386 hp). Rear: 450 kW (603 hp). Combined, 738 kW, or 990 hp. The battery’s 101.7 kWh, good for 705 km on CLTC — China’s cycle, worth remembering, not WLTP or EPA. Since Xiaomi hasn’t sold this outside China, there’s no WLTP or EPA number to check it against, and no way to know how much that 705 km shrinks once it’s run through a stricter test. Charging: Xiaomi claims 10–80% in about 12 minutes on the 800V setup. A third-party charging-curve estimate (not from Xiaomi) puts peak DC draw near 500 kW and stretches the 10–80% time to roughly 14.5 minutes — close enough to Xiaomi’s number, but it’s an outside estimate, not a spec sheet figure. No AC charging rate has been published for this trim.

In China it starts at 389,900 yuan, roughly $57,300, or 429,900 yuan (~$63,200) fully loaded. European listings show €49,350–€60,000, for what that’s worth — it isn’t officially sold there yet. This isn’t a commuter or fleet car; it’s for people who want the numbers, full stop. Inside Xiaomi’s own range it mirrors the SU7 Ultra — the performance flagship sitting above everything else with the brand name on it. Its real competition is external: the Tesla Model Y Performance and the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric, both of which show up next to it in most spec comparisons. For a direct match, it’s the Model Y Performance — same body style, same basic EV logic, and on paper the YU7 GT just has more car for less money. Whether that matters depends entirely on whether Xiaomi ever sells it where you live.

Product FAQ

What is the Xiaomi YU7 GT?

It's the top performance trim of Xiaomi's YU7 electric SUV — a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive flagship sitting above the standard YU7, Pro, and Max versions.

How much power does it have?

738 kW combined, or 990 hp, from a 288 kW front motor and a 450 kW rear motor.

How fast is it?

0–100 km/h in about 3.0 seconds, with a top speed listed at either 270 km/h or 300 km/h depending on the source. It's also posted a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of roughly 7:22.

What's the range?

705 km on China's CLTC cycle. There's no WLTP or EPA figure yet since it isn't sold outside China — real-world range would likely be lower under stricter test cycles.

How big is the battery?

101.7 kWh (99.0 kWh usable).

How fast does it charge?

Xiaomi says 10–80% in about 12 minutes on its 800V platform. Third-party estimates put peak DC charging near 500 kW, though that figure isn't officially confirmed.

How much does it cost?

Starts at ¥389,900 (about $57,300 USD) in China. A fully loaded "Big Full Pack" version runs ¥429,900 (~$63,200).

Can I buy one outside China?

Not officially. Xiaomi hasn't confirmed export, homologation, or service support for other markets, so any prices you see in euros or dollars elsewhere are unofficial estimates.

What does "GT" mean here?

It stands for Gran Turismo — Xiaomi's positioning is a car tuned for long-distance comfort and cornering stability, not just straight-line speed, developed partly using the Nürburgring as a testing ground.

What are its main rivals?

The Tesla Model Y Performance and Porsche Macan Turbo Electric are the closest external competitors. Inside Xiaomi's own lineup, it plays the same "halo" role the SU7 Ultra plays for the sedan.

How many seats does it have?

Five.

Does it have autonomous driving?

It has Xiaomi's HAD driver-assist system (Level 2+) using one LiDAR, a 4D radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors — not full self-driving.

Is it a good buy for daily commuting?

Not really its purpose. It's built for buyers chasing performance numbers and track-adjacent capability rather than practicality, fleet use, or family duty.
