Xiaomi Mijia Portable Car Vacuum Cleaner Launches With 20,000Pa Suction

Xiaomi’s Mijia brand has opened crowdfunding in China for the Mijia Portable Car Vacuum Cleaner Edition. It costs 189 yuan (about $26-28) during the campaign, and the retail price is set at 269 yuan (about $37-40). It is a cut-down version of the earlier Mijia car vacuum. The big change is that the body now folds.

Suction and Motor

The 35mm brushless motor runs at up to 150,000 rpm and produces 20,000Pa of suction. The earlier model is rated at 21,000Pa, so you give up very little power.

Weight and Design

At 446g it is easy to hold in one hand. The earlier model weighs 965g, so this one is less than half that. Folded, it fits in a door pocket or the trunk. Unfolded, it becomes a long wand, which helps when you need to reach under a seat.

Battery and Charging

The vacuum has three 2,500mAh lithium batteries. Energy-saving mode runs for up to 40 minutes, and high-power mode lasts about 16. It charges over USB Type-C.

Attachments

Five attachments are included:

• Crevice nozzle for seat seams and door pockets
• Soft brush for the dashboard, air vents and keyboards
• Air blower nozzle for cup holders, small openings and loose leaves
• Wide suction head for seats and floor mats
• Inflatable nozzle for swimming rings and similar items

Dust Handling

Centrifugal force separates dust from the airflow before it reaches the filter, so the filter clogs more slowly and suction holds up longer. You can pull out the cyclone to empty it with little hand contact, and the filters rinse clean with water.

Price and Availability

You can only back it in China for now. Xiaomi has not said anything about a global launch. The larger Mijia car vacuum did eventually go international, so there is a chance this one will too.
