Xiaomi has launched its first heat pump washer-dryer in China which is Mijia Heat Pump Washer-Dryer. The Mijia Washing Machine with Delicate Wash Pro Supreme Edition Heat Pump Washer-Dryer 13kg (yes, that’s the full name) costs 6,499 yuan, or about $970, and is on sale through Xiaomi Youpin.
It follows the Mijia Washing Machine Pro 12kg from January, which washed 12kg, dried 9kg, and cost 3,528 yuan. The new one washes 13kg, dries the same 9kg, and switches to a heat pump. The price is close to double.
The basics: 13kg wash, 9kg dry, 35 washing and drying programs, 11 conditioning programs, wash ratio of 1.3. It’s a standard-size body.
Heat pump drying
A heat pump recycles the heat already inside the machine instead of generating new heat each cycle. Xiaomi says that saves 73% more electricity than a condenser washer-dryer. I’d read that as 73% less power used, but the wording is Xiaomi’s, so check before quoting it.
The rest of the drying claims:
- Dual fans speed up drying by 49%.
- The heat pump sits at the top of the unit, which Xiaomi says lowers refrigerant flow resistance and improves heat exchange by 59%.
- A double-layer filter catches lint and debris.
Every figure here comes from Xiaomi. Nobody has tested them independently yet.
Washing
The washing side uses super electrolysis, the same tech as the Mijia Washer Dryer Set Pro from December. Xiaomi says it removes 20 kinds of stubborn stains, whitens yellowed clothes in one wash, and kills 99% of bacteria in cold water.
Mijia Heat Pump Washer-Dryer Smart controls
You tell the machine what the clothes are made of, what color they are, and what stains they have. Its system, which runs on Xiaomi’s own algorithms and large language models, then picks a program and settings. It also supports Surge Smart Connect, so the Xiaomi Home app and Xiaomi speakers can control it, and you can watch the cycle from your phone.
There’s no word yet on a launch outside China.
