Xiaomi has quietly added a monitor arm to its desk accessories, sold under the Redmi brand. The Redmi Monitor Arm is already on the Xiaomi store and goes on sale October 12. The China price converts to roughly $42, and Xiaomi backs it with a five-year replacement guarantee. Five years on a $42 arm is a bold promise.

Redmi Monitor Arm Features

The company is putting its confidence in a patented dual-spring mechanism that spreads the load evenly as you move the screen up or down. Xiaomi says it survived more than 30,000 test cycles. That is a manufacturer’s number, so treat it as a claim until reviewers get their hands on one. The body is 3 mm aluminum alloy, and the arm is rated for 9 kg. That is plenty for a normal monitor and enough for some oversized ones. It is built for screens up to 34 inches, which takes in 27- and 32-inch panels and many ultrawides. A monitor like the TCL 4K QD-Mini LED gaming display, heavily discounted on Amazon, would sit comfortably on it.

The Redmi Monitor Arm moves in five ways: height, tilt, rotation, left/right swing, and forward/backward extension. It stretches 43.5 cm front to back and has 30 cm of vertical travel. In practice, you can pull the screen to a comfortable distance, then push it back when you need desk space. Rotation means a portrait setup works too.

It fits both VESA 75 x 75 mm and 100 x 100 mm mounts, the two patterns most monitors use, and can go on a desk or a wall. A hidden channel keeps the power and video cables out of sight. Xiaomi says one person can install it alone, since the screws tighten by hand and you don’t need tools.

There is no global release yet. Xiaomi tends to bring accessories abroad later, sometimes under the Xiaomi name instead of Redmi. If this one does cross over, it could be a cheap alternative to the established ergonomic arms that run as high as $350 in the US.

Two things to check before you buy: your monitor should weigh under 9 kg and have VESA holes. Xiaomi also hasn’t published the desk clamp’s thickness range, which matters if your desk has a thick edge.
