PROS

  1. 55dB ANC with a 3-mic system
  2. Triple-driver setup with head-tracked spatial audio
  3. 8h per charge (10h on the Wi-Fi version) and 40h with the case

CONS

  1. Price is more than double the Buds 5
  2. Some features need a Xiaomi phone

Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro are the top earbuds in Xiaomi’s lineup, a half-in-ear true wireless design. Each bud weighs 5.6 g and is rated IP54. Inside is a coaxial triple-driver stack (11 mm dynamic, planar, PZT tweeters) with dual DACs. Bluetooth is 5.4, and the codec list includes aptX Lossless and LC3. You can buy a Bluetooth version or one with Qualcomm XPAN Wi-Fi. The dual-amplifier driver layout is a first for Xiaomi earbuds.

Battery size depends on the source. GSMArena gives 53 mAh per earbud and 570 mAh for the case. A regional Xiaomi spec sheet says 64 mAh per earbud. Xiaomi’s own figures are 8 hours per charge with ANC off and 40 hours with the case. One retailer lists 6.5 hours with ANC on, so expect less than 8 in real use. The case charges over USB-C at 5V/2A.

Launch pricing in Europe was €200 for Bluetooth and €220 for the Wi-Fi version. Dutch shops now list them from about €149. In Taiwan they list at NT$5,699. The best fit is someone on a Xiaomi or other Android phone who cares about aptX Lossless and ANC. Inside the brand, they sit above the Xiaomi Buds 5 and the Redmi Buds 6 Pro. GSMArena points out that the Redmi model has nearly the same features for much less. Outside it, the rivals are the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro and the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2. The direct comparison is the Nothing Ear (3), which lists from €139 and is rated for up to 10 hours per charge, or 38 with the case.
