Redmi Buds 8 Active is an entry-level true wireless earbud from Xiaomi’s Redmi line. It uses an open semi-in-ear design, so there are no silicone tips. The drivers are 14.2mm with a titanium-coated diaphragm, and Bluetooth is 5.4 with SBC and AAC. It replaces the Redmi Buds 6 Active. The changes are AAC support, IP54 instead of IPX4, and a slightly lighter earbud at 3.8g instead of 4g.
Each earbud has a 37mAh battery and the case has 475mAh. Xiaomi rates one charge at 7 hours and 37 hours with the case, up from 6 and 30 on the Buds 6 Active. Ten minutes in the case gets you about 2 hours of playback, and the case charges at 5V/500mA. Calls go through dual-mic AI noise reduction, and multipoint is supported. There is no active noise cancellation.
In China it launched at 119 CNY, about $16. A leaked European price was around €19.99, and US listings sit near $28.99. It makes sense if you want cheap earbuds for calls and podcasts and don’t like sealed tips. Inside Redmi’s lineup it sits under the Redmi Buds 8 Lite and the Redmi Buds 8, which adds ANC. Against other brands, the usual rivals are the Realme Buds T110 and the Soundcore P20i. The closest direct comparison is the Redmi Buds 6 Active, which has the same driver size and Bluetooth version but a shorter battery rating and no AAC.
