Redmi has released a refreshed Redmi Note 17 Pro in China, and it’s a minor one. The colors and memory configurations have changed. The processor, battery, and cameras are the same as on the model that launched in July.

The refreshed phone comes in Sand Orange, Energetic Green, and Black. The first two are new, while Black carries over from the original. White, Sky Blue, and Nebula Purple, which the standard version offered before, are gone.

Memory options and pricing

The lineup now has three configurations: 6GB+256GB, 8GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB. The original also offered 8GB+512GB and 12GB+256GB. Both of those have been dropped, and the 6GB+256GB model is the only addition.

VariantPrice (China)
6GB+256GB1,599 yuan (about $239)
8GB+128GB1,599 yuan (about $239)
8GB+256GB1,699 yuan (about $254)

The 6GB+256GB and 8GB+128GB versions cost the same, so you can pick extra RAM or extra storage without paying more. The entry price is also unchanged, since the original 8GB+128GB launched at 1,599 yuan.

Unchanged hardware

Everything else matches the July model. It uses a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor and a 9,000mAh Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery with 67W wired charging. The rear camera setup includes a 50-megapixel main camera.

The display is a 6.83-inch flat OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Peak brightness reaches 3,500 nits, and the screen supports both 3,840Hz PWM dimming and DC-like dimming. It’s covered by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and has SGS and CQC five-star drop resistance certifications.

For dust and water, the phone is rated IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K. It has also passed TÜV SÜD’s 72-hour waterproof certification.

The global model has a smaller battery

The Redmi Note 17 Pro sold outside China differs in one notable way. It launched in late August with an 8,340mAh battery, compared with 9,000mAh in the Chinese version. It also started at $400, well above the Chinese starting price of about $239.

Should you care?

If you already own the July model, probably not. The 6GB+256GB option is the only new configuration, and the new colors are the only visible change. Anyone who was already considering the phone can choose from the updated lineup without giving anything up, apart from the two higher-end memory options that were cut.
