The Redmi M100 is an entry-level phone from Redmi, Xiaomi’s budget brand. It is the first phone in the new Redmi M series and was launched quietly in China. It has a 6.9-inch IPS LCD with a Gorilla Glass 7i front, a plastic frame and back, and IP64 dust and splash resistance. It measures 170.1 x 78.4 x 8.8 mm and weighs 232 g. Inside is the 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The screen is HD+ (1600 x 720) at 120Hz, and the phone runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3. Some outlets call the software Surge OS 3, but most spec sheets list HyperOS 3. What makes the M100 notable is that it opens a new line. It also shares its design and chipset with the global Redmi 17 5G.
The Redmi M100 battery is the main spec. The cell is 7,900mAh, with 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. Reverse charging lets it top up earbuds or another phone. It also supports PPS, so compatible third-party fast chargers work. A 45W charger and Type-C cable come in the box. No usable (typical) capacity figure has been published, and I found no wireless charging listed. Nobody has published independent battery tests yet.
In China the 8GB/128GB model costs CNY 1,799 (about $267), or roughly €230. The 6GB/256GB is CNY 1,999 and the 8GB/256GB is CNY 2,199. It is unclear whether the phone will reach international markets, and it has not been released in India. I found no pricing for Nigeria.
It suits people who want battery life, a large screen and a headphone jack more than a sharp display or a good camera. That includes heavy video watchers, secondary-phone buyers and older users, who get a senior mode with larger icons and fonts and call and media volume up to 300 percent.
Inside Redmi’s range, it sits next to the Redmi 17 5G, which uses the same chipset and design language but has a 50MP rear camera and 8MP selfie camera. The Redmi 15 5G, another large-battery model, overlaps with it on use case. From other brands, the Realme P4x 5G and Samsung’s Galaxy M-series 5G phones compete for the same budget. I chose these rivals by price and segment, so verify current specs before quoting them. The closest direct comparison is the Poco M7 Plus 5G, which also has a 6.9-inch LCD and a large battery. Poco is Xiaomi’s sister brand. I haven’t confirmed its specs for this post.
