The Redmi 17C 4G is Xiaomi’s newest entry-level 4G phone, announced in China on June 23, 2026. It has a 6.88-inch 120Hz IPS LCD at 720 x 1640, a Helio G81 Ultra chipset, and Android 16 with HyperOS 3. The front is glass and the frame is plastic. The back is either plastic or an eco-leather finish, depending on the colour. It comes with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of storage. It has a dedicated microSD slot and a headphone jack. The cameras are a single 13MP on the back and a 5MP on the front, and there is no NFC. What stands out is how little changed. It replaces the Redmi 15C, and Xiaomi skipped the “16C” name. RAM tops out at 4GB, while the 15C offered up to 8GB.
The battery is 5,160mAh, and wired charging is 18W. The phone is 8.2mm thick and weighs 206g. Some Indian listings show 33W charging and NFC, but those pages still label the phone “upcoming” and contradict the China spec sheet. I would go with 18W and no NFC until Xiaomi publishes global specs.
In China the 4GB/64GB model has an SRP of CNY 799 and the 4GB/128GB model CNY 899. That is roughly $117 and $132. The Philippine conversion is about Php 7,200 and Php 8,100, and international release details are not confirmed. An Indian listing gives ₹12,999, but that is a placeholder and not a confirmed price. The phone fits someone who wants a big screen, expandable storage, and a headphone jack on a tight budget, and who can live without NFC payments or a good camera. Within Xiaomi’s range it sits above the Redmi A series (the Redmi A5, for example) and next to its predecessor, the Redmi 15C. Outside the brand, the nearest rivals are the Samsung Galaxy A07 4G and the Infinix Hot 60i. The closest direct comparison is the Redmi 15C. It uses the same Helio G81 Ultra and has more RAM, so its current street price is the number to check before buying either one.
