The Xiaomi Redmi R70 is an entry-level 5G phone from Redmi, announced in China in April 2026. The body is plastic and measures 171.6 x 79.5 x 8.2 mm at 210 g, with an IP52 rating. The 6.9-inch IPS LCD runs at 120 Hz but only 720 x 1600. RAM and storage go from 4GB/128GB up to 8GB/256GB, and there is a microSD slot and a 3.5mm jack. Cameras are a 13MP rear and an 8MP front. What stands out is the software: Android 16 with HyperOS 3, on a Unisoc T8300 (6 nm) chip.
The battery is 6000mAh and charges at 15W over USB-C, so a full charge takes a while. The low-resolution screen helps runtime. The T8300 has two Cortex-A78 cores at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, plus a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and UFS 2.2 storage. The related R70m gets a 6300mAh cell.
In China the base model costs ¥1,599, about €207. Prices elsewhere are unconfirmed; India is expected at ₹17,990. The R70 is for people who care about battery life, screen size and storage they can expand, and who don’t mind one basic camera and light performance. Within Redmi it sits close to the Redmi 15C 5G and the Redmi 15 5G. Elsewhere, the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G and the Infinix Hot 60 5G+ compete with it. The Redmi 15C 5G is the nearest match, with the same 6.9-inch 120 Hz screen and 6000mAh battery.
