The Redmi K90 Ultra is a gaming-oriented phone from Xiaomi’s Redmi brand, priced just under the flagship tier. It launched in China on June 30, 2026. The screen is a 6.83-inch flat AMOLED at 2772 × 1280 and 165Hz. The chip is the 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite, with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, plus a separate D2 chip for AI upscaling and frame interpolation. The back is glass, the frame is aluminum, it weighs 227g, and there is no microSD slot. The rear cameras are a 50MP main and an 8MP ultra-wide. The chip is last generation’s top-end part, but what makes this phone unusual is the built-in fan. Redmi K phones rarely have one. The Ultra is a cheaper alternative to the K90 Max and keeps that model’s fan and large battery. The fan is 18.1mm, reportedly runs at 32dB, and works with a 6,000mm² vapor chamber.
The battery is 8,550mAh, silicon-carbon, with an energy density of 876Wh/L. Wired charging is 100W and reverse wired charging is 22.5W. None of the sources I found give a typical or usable capacity separate from that figure. The phone is rated IP66, IP68 and IP69, and the fan module has its own IPX8 and IPX9 rating. It runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3.
The 12GB/256GB model starts at CNY 2,999 in China. Converted, that is roughly $415 to $440, depending on who did the math. The 256GB variants had an introductory price of CNY 2,799 (about $420). It is China-only for now, and Xiaomi has not said whether a global or India release is planned. The realistic buyer plays demanding games for long stretches and cares more about battery life and sustained performance than photos. There is no telephoto lens.
Within Redmi’s lineup it sits between two phones. The K90 Max is above it. The K90 Max has a Dimensity 9500, an 8,500mAh battery, a cooling fan and 100W charging, and starts around CNY 3,499. The standard K90 is below it, with a 6.59-inch 2K OLED at 120Hz and a 7,100mAh battery. Outside Redmi, the Realme GT 8 and the iQOO Neo 11 compete for the same buyer. Industry coverage lists the GT 8 as a direct rival to the K90 series. The Neo 11 is the closer match on paper. It has the same Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 7,500mAh battery, 100W wired charging and a 6.82-inch 2K 144Hz AMOLED, and launched at CNY 2,599. The Redmi has about 1,000mAh more battery and the fan. The iQOO has the higher-resolution screen.
