Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype vs Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, Both cars are Xiaomi four-door electric sedans with the same three-motor setup and about 1,548 PS. The Prototype is a stripped-out carbon-bodied car built to chase Nürburgring records, and it isn’t sold. The production SU7 Ultra is for someone who wants brutal acceleration in a car they can drive to work. The comparison matters now because the Prototype has lapped the Nordschleife in 6:22.091, while the car you can order manages 7:04.957.

Xiaomi hasn’t published range or charging figures for the Prototype, which is a race car. The production Ultra has a 93.7 kWh CATL battery and a CLTC range of 630 km. CLTC is an optimistic test cycle, so plan on noticeably less on a fast motorway, and much less if you enjoy the power. I couldn’t find an official AC figure or an independent 10–80% DC time, so check Xiaomi’s spec sheet before you count on either.
The Prototype has no price. The production SU7 Ultra starts at RMB 529,900 (about $73,000) and is sold in China. The Nürburgring Limited Edition adds the Track Package and more carbon fiber for RMB 814,900. If you’re trying to decide between the two, the only one you can buy is the road car.
Xiaomi’s lineup is still small. Buyers who want less extreme performance can look at the standard SU7 or the YU7 SUV. Outside Xiaomi, the natural rivals are the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Lucid Air Sapphire. This pairing is still worth reading because it shows how much of the Prototype’s speed survives in the car with a price tag.

Choose the Prototype if what interests you is how fast a Xiaomi sedan can go with nothing held back, though you’ll only be watching it. Choose the production SU7 Ultra if you want to own the car, drive it daily and still get most of that speed. The road car gives up some weight savings and track hardware in exchange for comfort, a price and a dealer.
