Mijia Smart Smoke Purifier 3 Pro: price and specs

Most kitchen hoods have a power button, a speed button and maybe a light switch. Xiaomi’s Mijia Smart Smoke Purifier 3 Pro adds a color screen, gesture control, gas sensors and a coating meant to keep grease from sticking.

How it handles smoke

Two cross-flow fans at the top form a downward air curtain, so smoke rising off the pan gets pushed back instead of drifting toward your face. Below that, a fast, backward-sloping airflow pulls in dense smoke while four vortices catch it where it starts. Wind speed tops out at 16 m/s, and the hood runs at 60 dB(A) on its highest setting.

Screen, gestures and light

Look up and the screen shows cooking information. Wave a hand and the hood turns on, turns off or changes speed. I’d call that the best feature here, since your hands are never clean while you cook. There’s also a large diffused light panel, listed as 29 inches, and HyperOS support.

Air quality and safety

The hood has an ion module that releases negative ions to cut PM2.5 and dust and to slow bacteria. Gas and smoke detection runs all day. If harmful gas passes a set limit, you get an alert and the hood can start ventilating by itself. A PM2.5 gauge with a three-color indicator shows air quality at a glance.

Cleaning

The smoke duct panel has a nanomesh coating that repels water and oil, so grease wipes off. The impeller has a similar coating and flings grease away as it spins, which means you don’t have to take the fan apart. For a deeper clean, a self-cleaning mode runs from one button.

The hood costs 5,881 yuan, roughly 790 euros according to the original report. The standard Smoke Purifier 3 went on pre-sale at 2,940 yuan, and it already has triple smoke purification, seven suction levels and phone alerts through Mi Home. So the extra 2,900 yuan or so buys the screen, gesture control, ion module and self-cleaning fan. Whether that’s worth it depends on how much you’d use them. For now it’s only sold in China.
