Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer Pro 9kg

The Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer Pro 9kg (WD090MJA11EU) is Xiaomi’s mid-range freestanding washer-dryer. One drum washes 9kg and dries 6kg, with a 1400rpm spin. The body is 598 x 570 x 850mm, the drum is 525mm wide, and you can control it from the touchscreen or the Xiaomi Home app. It was the first smart laundry appliance Xiaomi officially sold in Europe.

It has no battery, so power is the thing to look at. Washing draws 1800-2200W and drying 1400-1800W, which is a lot for a single socket. It runs on 220-240V, and standby is 4W or less. Xiaomi’s installation guide wants a grounded supply of at least 10A. The energy label says A for washing alone and D for wash-and-dry; the listed figure is 306 kWh per 100 cycles. The motor is direct-drive and the drum is stainless steel. The motor carries a 12-year warranty. Drying is by condensation. Noise tops out at 71 dB. A silent mode is included, but Aqua Stop is not. Night Wash only works through the app.

The European launch price was €579, with a €499 launch offer in Italy. In the UK it costs £599, and in Portugal it starts from €549.99. It fits a small flat that has room for one machine instead of two. Xiaomi sells two bigger models above it: the 10.5kg (7kg drying) and the Pro 12.5kg (8kg drying). Outside the brand, Bosch offers the Series 4 WNA14400 at 9/6kg and 1400rpm, and Haier lists the X7 HWD90-B14367U-UK from £494.10. The nearest match is the Samsung WD90HG5U34BEEU. It has the same 9kg/6kg/1400rpm spec and costs the same £599 as the UK Mijia. It is rated D for energy and is 2cm deeper at 59cm.
