The Poco M8x 5G is a budget phone from Poco, Xiaomi’s sub-brand, and the cheapest model in the M8 lineup. It has a 6.9-inch LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is HD+ (1600 x 720) and sits under Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The green version has a vegan leather back, and the other colors are cobalt blue and black. Inside is a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 with 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. A microSD slot handles expansion. Poco says it is the first phone in India to use that chip, and it is the fourth M8 handset to launch there. It ships with Android 16 and HyperOS 3, with up to four OS upgrades.
The battery is the reason this phone exists. It is a 7,900mAh cell with 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse charging, so you can top up earbuds or another phone over a cable. It is the largest battery in the current M8 range. Poco’s own estimates are about 35 hours of social media scrolling, 27 days of messaging, 13 hours of GPS navigation or 64 hours of music playback per charge. These are manufacturer claims, and the 120Hz setting will cut into them. The chip is built on a 4nm process, which helps efficiency, and Poco claims an AnTuTu score above 650,000. The rest of the hardware is basic: IP64 dust and splash resistance, a side fingerprint reader, a 50MP main camera and an 8MP selfie camera.
In India, the 4GB/128GB model of the Poco M8x costs Rs 20,999 and the 6GB/128GB model costs Rs 22,999. A Rs 2,000 launch coupon brings those down to Rs 18,999 and Rs 20,999. Converted regionally, that is about Php 13,700 and Php 15,000. Sales began on 27 August 2026 on Flipkart.
It suits people who care more about getting through two days without a charger than about screen sharpness or gaming. Think video, maps, messaging and the occasional call.
Inside Poco’s range, the nearby phones are the M8 5G and the M8 Power 5G. The M8 5G launched from Rs 18,999 with an AMOLED screen, and the M8 Power 5G started at Rs 24,999. The M8x gives up the better display in exchange for the bigger battery.
Outside the brand, the closest rivals are the Realme P4 5G and the Samsung Galaxy M36 5G. The Realme P4 5G is the most direct match on battery size, chipset class and price, so it is the one most buyers will compare against. Both rivals get discounted often, so check current prices before you pick.
