The Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi is a flagship phone from Leica Camera AG, built with Xiaomi. It has a 6.9 inch 120Hz OLED display and measures 162.9 x 77.6 x 8.32 mm at 223.4 g. Inside is a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. There is only one configuration, and the phone is rated IP68. It is Leica’s first international smartphone. One review points out that the hardware is mostly the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, with a new design, new branding, different software and some Leica camera filters.
Xiaomi lists the battery as 6000mAh typical and gives no usable figure. Wired charging reaches 90W with a PPS compatible adapter, and Xiaomi recommends its 120W adapter. Wireless is 50W and needs a Xiaomi HyperCharge compatible charger; reverse wireless charging is also supported. An optional Photography Kit Pro grip adds a shutter button and a 2,000mAh battery. One reviewer called battery life good but not the best in its class.
The launch price is €1,999. In the UK it is listed between £1,700 and £1,799. The US equivalent is about $2,100, but the phone is not sold there. It suits people who want the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s camera hardware in a Leica body and will pay extra for it. Within Xiaomi’s range it sits above the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and overlaps with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Among other brands, the OnePlus 15 and the Oppo Find X9 Pro are the two a review put it next to. The closest match is the Xiaomi 17 Ultra: near identical hardware, £1,300 in the UK against £1,700 for the Leitzphone.
