Here we have the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max Review (Xiaomi 18 Pro), The Xiaomi 18 Pro series didn’t launch first this year, but it reached shelves early. Like the iPhone, the standard Xiaomi 18 has been pushed to next year, so for now you get the smaller 18 Pro and the larger 18 Pro Max. They look a lot like last year’s phones. Whatever changed, you’ll have to look inside for it.
Quick verdict
Buy it if you want a great rear display, top performance and battery life that lasts. Skip it if you care most about the ultrawide camera. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is still better at that.

What’s in the box
Both models ship with the same accessories: a SIM ejector tool, a manual, a clear case, a 100W charger and a cable. Nothing surprising.
Design
If you’re set on an 18 Pro series phone, get the blue one. High saturation, low brightness and white particle accents make it the best-looking of the bunch. If your budget stretches, the 1TB transparent edition is worth a look too.

The rest of the changes are small. The rear display now sits under one flat piece of glass, so the camera lenses no longer protrude. There’s finally a dedicated AI button on the side. The 18 Pro Max has the biggest vibration motor on any Android phone, and typing feedback is noticeably crisper.

The Pro Max also has an extra speaker under the rear display. It handles low frequencies alongside the main speaker, and it can cancel sound waves to reduce leakage during calls.
Rear display
The rear display helped the 17 Pro series sell so well, so of course it’s back. AI wallpapers, virtual pets and mini games all carry over. What’s new is AI-generated App Cards: pick a function you want, and AI puts it on the rear display.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Max Review – Front display
The specs improve only in the usual ways. Two things are worth noting.
The bezels are now under 1mm. The Pro is barely bigger than before, but its screen is slightly larger.
The Pro Max also gets a privacy display, following the Samsung S26 Ultra. On or off, it affects viewing angles. I don’t keep confidential files on my phone, so I’m not a fan. If you often use your phone on a train, you might feel differently.

Performance
Qualcomm had just announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 when, less than 48 hours later, Xiaomi said it would power the 18 Pro Max. The smaller 18 Pro gets the slightly weaker Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.
A smaller body also means less room for cooling, so the 18 Pro will probably trail the Pro Max in gaming. Performance is the main difference between the two.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Max Review – Cameras
The Xiaomi 18 Ultra has reportedly been canceled. That makes the 18 Pro Max Xiaomi’s strongest camera flagship until the 19 series arrives.
Both phones have 200MP main and telephoto sensors. The telephoto isn’t overly long and supports macro, which works well for everyday shooting. The Essential mode people liked is still here.
The ultrawide is the problem. It sits outside the rear display again, and to keep the display from blocking its view, Xiaomi is still using a 17mm lens. So the 17 Ultra stays Xiaomi’s best camera phone for another year.

Battery and charging
Batteries now contain more silicon, and battery life keeps improving. The 18 Pro series follows suit. With 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, it does what flagships are expected to do now. If battery life tops your list, the 18 Pro Max is a good choice.

Conclusion
For this Xiaomi 18 Pro Max Review, the only thing that stand is the rear display, it gets your attention right, as it did last year. The privacy screen, the new Snapdragon chip and the battery are what make the phone worth keeping. The ultrawide camera is a real weakness. Even so, this is one of the more distinctive phones to launch lately, and I expect it to sell well.
