PROS

  1. Large battery
  2. 6.9-inch 120 Hz display
  3. 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD slot

CONS

  1. HD+ 720 x 1600 resolution on a 6.9-inch screen (~254 ppi)
  2. 15W charging, no NFC, and a single 13 MP rear camera limited to 1080p 30 fps video

The Redmi R70m (also listed as the R70m 5G) is an entry-level phone from Xiaomi’s Redmi brand, announced in China on 15 April 2026. The screen is a 6.9-inch 720×1600 IPS LCD at 120Hz. Inside is a Unisoc T8300 with 6GB to 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, running Android 16 on HyperOS 3. Redmi usually picks Snapdragon or MediaTek, so the Unisoc chip stands out. So do the headphone jack and microSD slot, which many phones in this range have dropped.

The battery is 6300mAh, charged at 15W over USB-C 2.0. Usable capacity isn’t published. One retailer lists 7.5W reverse charging, but I couldn’t confirm it anywhere else. The phone weighs 210g. The T8300 is a 6nm octa-core with two Cortex-A78 and six Cortex-A55 cores. Charging at 15W is slow for a battery this big, so expect a long wait from empty.

In China it launched at CNY 1,799, about USD 265. Pakistan listings start at Rs. 35,999. A US aggregator shows about $215 but calls the phone upcoming, so don’t treat that as a retail price. It fits a buyer who cares more about screen size, battery life and a headphone jack than about camera quality or display sharpness. In the Redmi range, the Redmi R70 5G sits just below it with a 6000mAh battery, and the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ starts at the same CNY 1,799. Outside the brand, the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G and the Realme C85 are the nearest rivals. The Redmi R70 5G is the closest direct comparison.
