Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro vs Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max

Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro vs Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max, Both are Android tablets from Xiaomi, sold as premium models. The Pad 9 Pro has a 12.5-inch screen and suits students and anyone who reads, takes notes and watches video on the move. The Pro Max is 13.3 inches and is Xiaomi’s flagship, built for creators and remote workers who want a tablet to stand in for a laptop. The Pro Max went on sale in China on 7 September, and the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro followed within days, so people are comparing them now.

Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro vs Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max

Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro vs Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max Specs

The Pad 9 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, an 11,000mAh battery with 67W charging, a 50MP rear camera, and weighs 580g. The Pro Max uses Xiaomi’s own XRING O3 chip, a 13.3-inch 3.4K screen at 144Hz in a 3:2 ratio, and up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It also has a 12,000mAh battery with 120W charging, eight speakers, and weighs 645g. Its USB-C port supports DP-in, so it can work as an external monitor. For real-world numbers, Xiaomi says the Pro lasts up to 14.5 hours of short video playback. I found no independent battery or performance tests for either tablet yet, so the Pro Max’s 5.61 million AnTuTu score is also Xiaomi’s claim. Both are Wi-Fi only.

Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro vs Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max Price

The Pad 9 Pro starts at CNY 3,799 (about $565) for 8GB/128GB, and the Pro Max at CNY 4,799 (about $715) for 8GB/256GB. Both launched in China, and Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed an international release. Some retail sites list US and India prices, but those are placeholders. The decision here is whether a bigger screen, a faster chip and quicker charging are worth about CNY 1,000 more. f

Xiaomi’s other option is the standard Pad 9, which has an 11.2-inch screen and starts at 2,999 yuan. Outside Xiaomi, the closest rivals to the Pro Max are Apple’s iPad Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Ultra models. I haven’t checked their current prices, and they likely cost more. Comparing these two Xiaomi tablets is still the useful step because they share the same software, so the choice comes down to size, chip and charging.

The Pad 9 Pro is cheaper and lighter at 580g, which matters if you carry it all day. Its 12.5-inch screen is tight for split-screen work. The Pro Max gives you more room for multitasking and can double as a monitor, but at 645g it is heavier to hold, and its XRING O3 chip has no independent testing yet. Choose the Pad 9 Pro if price and weight matter more to you. Choose the Pro Max if you want the larger screen and faster charging. Whichever you pick, wait for confirmed international pricing first.
