The Redmi Turbo 5 is an upper mid-range phone from Xiaomi’s Redmi line. The screen is a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED at 120Hz with 3,500 nits peak brightness, covered in Gorilla Glass 7i over a glass back and metal frame. It measures 157.53 x 75.19 x 8.18 mm and weighs a little over 200 g. India gets 8GB or 12GB of RAM with 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The cameras are a 50MP main with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 20MP selfie camera, and the software is Android 16 with HyperOS 3. It is the first Turbo-series phone in India, and the first to use the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra.

The battery is a 7,540mAh silicon-carbon cell, charged at 100W wired with 27W wired reverse charging. The Chinese model has a slightly larger 7,560mAh cell, and Xiaomi hasn’t published a usable capacity for either. The chip is a 4nm Dimensity 8500 Ultra with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, cooled by a 3D Ice Loop vapour chamber. It scores about 2.13 million on AnTuTu. Xiaomi lists 4 OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates.

China, the launch market, priced the 12GB/256GB model at CNY 1,999 (about $290), going up to CNY 2,599 for 16GB/512GB. India launched at Rs 37,999 for 8GB + 256GB and Rs 40,999 for 12GB + 256GB. Some outlets reported introductory prices of Rs 35,999 and Rs 38,999, and the 8GB model has since risen to Rs 41,999. It fits heavy gamers and people who want multi-day battery life, and it is a poor fit for anyone who needs a telephoto lens.

Inside Xiaomi’s lineup it sits above the Redmi Note 15 Pro series and below the Poco X8 Pro Max, which uses the Dimensity 9500s. Outside the brand, the OnePlus Nord 6 and the Nothing Phone 4a are the main rivals. The Poco X8 Pro is the closest match: same Dimensity 8500 Ultra, display and 100W charging, but a 6,500mAh battery and a price around Rs 36,999.
