SkyNomad N90 Max Studio vs Xiaomi YU7 Max

SkyNomad N90 Max Studio vs Xiaomi YU7 Max, The SkyNomad N90 Max Studio is a seven-seat SUV with a factory pop-up roof. The loft up top has its own air conditioning. It isn’t a pure EV: it’s an extended-range hybrid on Xiaomi’s Kunlun platform, where a petrol engine only charges the battery. Xiaomi says SkyNomad is a separate series, not a Xiaomi Auto sub-brand. The Xiaomi YU7 Max is a five-seat, dual-motor, battery-electric SUV for people who want a quick, gadget-heavy daily driver. The N90 is for people who want to sleep, work or host from the car. It went on sale in China in September 2026, which is why the comparison is worth making now.

SkyNomad N90 Max Studio vs Xiaomi YU7 Max

SkyNomad N90 Max Studio vs Xiaomi YU7 Max Range and charging

All figures here are China’s CLTC numbers, not WLTP or EPA. Real-world range will be lower, and I couldn’t find independent tests for either car.

The N90 Max Studio is rated at 462 km on electric power alone and 1,688 km combined. The YU7 Max is rated at 760 km from a 101.7 kWh battery.

On DC charging, the YU7 Max claims 10–80% in about 12 minutes. I found no 10–80% time for the N90. The smaller N70 Max does 20–80% in as little as 18 minutes, which is a hint but not an answer. I also couldn’t find AC charging rates for either car, so check Xiaomi’s spec sheets before you rely on them.

SkyNomad N90 Max Studio vs Xiaomi YU7 Max Price and availability

The N90 Max Studio costs RMB 299,900 (about $44,685). The standard N90 Max is RMB 269,900. The YU7 Max launched at RMB 329,900 (about $45,600), though that price may have moved since. The YU7 also comes in cheaper Standard and Pro trims.

Neither car is officially sold outside China. Xiaomi calls the SkyNomad China-only for now. One report mentions Europe in 2027, but nothing is confirmed. Chinese-spec YU7 Max units do show up as imports in the UAE.

If you’re deciding between them, the question is whether you want a camper or a faster electric SUV.

Other options

In the SkyNomad range, the five-seat N70 Max (RMB 239,900) is the smaller alternative. In Xiaomi’s own lineup, the cheaper YU7 trims and the SU7 sedan are worth a look. Outside both brands, the Li Auto L9 and AITO M9 are the large rivals the N90 Max undercuts in China. The Tesla Model Y is the usual benchmark for the YU7. None of them offers a factory loft, and none of them matches the YU7’s charging claim at this price.

Verdict

Pick the N90 Max Studio if the roof loft, the fold-flat second row and seven seats matter more to you than efficiency. You’ll accept a petrol engine in the drivetrain and a shorter electric range. Pick the YU7 Max if you want a pure EV that does 0–100 km/h in 3.23 seconds, goes about 300 km further on a charge and has a confirmed 12-minute fast charge. You’ll give up the camper trick and two seats.
