The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G is Xiaomi’s upper mid-range Note phone, sitting one step under the Pro Max. It has a 6.83-inch display, a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3, and Xiaomi announced it on August 27, 2026. The chip is the odd part. It stays in the same tier as before, while the battery and the dust and water ratings get the upgrade. One reviewer said it isn’t a conventional generational upgrade, and that’s a fair description.
Power and charging
Which battery you get depends on where you buy. The global model has an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery with 67W wired charging and up to 22.5W reverse charging. The China version is rated at 9,000mAh with the same 67W charging. Both are well above the Note 15 Pro series, which only had 6,500+mAh batteries. GSMArena lists 50% in 34 minutes. The EU energy label gives 72 hours of endurance and 1,000 charge cycles. The 67W charging is not quick for the class, though. 91mobiles measured 1 hour 36 minutes for 20% to 100%, slower than several phones at this price. The battery isn’t user-replaceable.
Pricing, fit and context
In China the phone starts at 1,599 yuan (about USD 235) for 8GB/128GB. For 8GB/256GB elsewhere:
The Philippines starts at Php 22,999, and Europe lists €379.90 for the 8GB/512GB version.
It suits people who want long battery life and a body that survives drops and water, and who don’t play demanding games.
Within Xiaomi’s range it sits above the standard Redmi Note 17 5G and below the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. The Pro Max has a 10,000mAh battery in Xiaomi’s global listing, 100W charging, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and UFS 4.1 storage.
Outside Xiaomi, the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G and the Realme 16 Pro 5G are the rivals I’d look at. I chose them by segment and price, so check local prices before deciding. The Realme 16 Pro 5G is the closest match, since it also targets people who buy for battery life.
