The Poco F9 Ultra is the top phone in Poco’s F9 series. Poco is Xiaomi’s sub-brand, and at these prices the phone sits in the flagship tier, even though Engadget describes it as a midrange phone with a flagship chip. It has a 6.9-inch AMOLED screen (2,608 x 1,200, up to 185Hz), a glass-fiber back and a metal frame. It measures 163.49 x 77.94 x 8.74mm and weighs 235g. You can get it in 12GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB or 16GB/1TB, in Black or Dark Cherry. The new part is the camera. It is the first Poco phone with a 200MP main sensor, backed by a 50MP 5x periscope, a 50MP ultra-wide and a 32MP selfie camera.
The battery is 8,050mAh and silicon-carbon, with a 16% silicon ratio. Poco says it is the biggest it has put in a Poco phone and claims two days of light to moderate use. Charging is 100W wired and 50W wireless. Reverse charging runs at 27W wired and 22.5W wireless. The chip is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Poco adds its VisionBoost D8 chip and a LiquidCool system, which it says lowers chip temperatures by up to 3 degrees Celsius. Audio is a Bose-tuned 2.1 setup with two stereo speakers and a separate subwoofer.
The US launch price is $799 for the base model, $949 for 16GB/512GB and $1,199 for 16GB/1TB, with cheaper early-bird deals. In the UK it starts at £899, in Australia at AUD $1,499, and in the Philippines at Php55,999. I couldn’t find confirmed Nigerian pricing, so check local sellers and import listings before you plan a naira budget.
It makes the most sense for someone who plays a lot of mobile games or just wants a battery that outlasts the day, and doesn’t mind carrying a big, heavy phone.
Inside the brand, it sits above the Poco F9 Pro, which has a smaller 6.59-inch screen and a 6,330mAh battery. It also replaces the Poco F8 Ultra, which launched at £749 in 2025. Xiaomi’s own 17T is a useful price marker too. The F9 Ultra’s UK starting price is £100 above it.
Outside the brand, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus is the obvious rival. In the UK the F9 Ultra costs less than the S26 Plus. The OnePlus 15 is the other one to look at, since it also runs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and leans on battery life. It is also the closest match for a direct comparison, so “Poco F9 Ultra vs OnePlus 15” is the search most buyers will end up making. Check current prices for both before deciding. Against its own predecessor, the F9 Ultra keeps the same chip as the F8 Ultra. What changes is the 200MP camera, the bigger battery and camera modules that now sit flush with the back panel.
