The Xiaomi 18 Fold is Xiaomi’s first wide, passport-style foldable. It is a flagship that launched in China in September 2026. Xiaomi pitches it as a “mid-size” fold, between the big book-style phones and the small flips. The cover screen is 5.38 inches (1712 × 1168), and it opens to a 7.58-inch inner screen (2,364 × 1,672). Both are LTPO AMOLED, 1–120Hz, up to 4,000 nits. It weighs 219g and is 10.7mm thick folded. You can get 12GB + 256GB up to 16GB + 512GB. Inside is Xiaomi’s own XRING O3, a 3nm chip with a 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU, which makes this the first Xiaomi flagship phone to use it. Xiaomi also says it is the first SoC to support LPDDR6 RAM.
The battery is the real story here. It is a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon cell with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has 4,400mAh or 4,800mAh, depending on which report you read, so the gap is large either way. Xiaomi claims the chip is 60% faster on multi-core CPU work and 85% faster on GPU than its last one, with 25% lower power use. Those are Xiaomi’s numbers and nobody has tested them yet. I couldn’t find a usable-capacity figure either. Water resistance is also unclear. One outlet lists IP58 and IP59, but Engadget said Xiaomi gave no rating at IFA.
Pricing starts at 10,999 yuan (about $1,640) for 12GB + 256GB. The 12GB + 512GB model is 11,999 yuan and the 16GB + 512GB model is 12,999 yuan. A ceramic edition, limited to 1,500 units, costs 15,999 yuan. In India the base price converts to roughly Rs 1.55 lakh. That is only a conversion, because Xiaomi reportedly won’t sell the phone outside China. For Nigerian buyers, that means importing it. Realistically it suits someone in China who wants a big battery and a telephoto camera in a foldable. Inside Xiaomi’s range it sits above the Mix Flip 2 and alongside the 17 Ultra, though that placement is my own judgement and not Xiaomi’s. Outside the brand, it competes with Huawei’s Pura X Max and Apple’s rumoured foldable iPhone, which was unconfirmed when I checked. The closest direct match is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. Against Samsung, the Xiaomi has the larger battery, a 3.5x telephoto the Fold 8 lacks, and a 2:1 inner screen instead of 4:3. It is also noticeably thicker.
