The Poco M8 Power is a budget 5G phone from Poco, Xiaomi’s performance sub-brand, and it lands at the entry to lower-mid-range level. The screen is a 6.9-inch FHD+ AMOLED at 120Hz with Gorilla Glass 7i. Inside is a 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. A microSD slot expands storage. It is 8.4mm thick, weighs about 225g and carries an IP65 rating. It is largely the Chinese Redmi Note 17 with a different back panel and colours. The 8,000mAh battery is the reason it exists, because few phones at this price come close. Android 16 with HyperOS 3 comes preinstalled, and Poco promises four OS updates through 2030 and six years of security patches through 2032.
The cell is silicon-carbon, and Xiaomi’s Surge G1 chip manages charging and battery health. No usable capacity has been published. Poco’s own numbers are up to 28 hours of video, 14 hours of gaming and 11 hours of GPS navigation, and independent tests haven’t confirmed them. Wired charging is 45W. Reverse wired charging at 22.5W lets it charge other gadgets. Full charge time hasn’t been stated.
India is the launch market. The 6GB + 128GB model costs Rs 24,999 and the 8GB + 128GB model costs Rs 27,999, with sales from August 7. Some retailers list the 8GB version at ₹26,999, probably from launch discounts. That works out to roughly $265 to $295. Poco hasn’t announced a Nigerian or wider international release, so a price elsewhere would depend on importers.
It suits someone who wants to charge less often and doesn’t need much speed. That means heavy video watchers, frequent travellers and people who lean on GPS.
Inside Poco’s range it sits next to the Poco M8 5G and below the Poco X8, which reports describe as a rebranded Redmi Note 17 Pro. Check both against Poco’s current listings. Among rivals, the Realme Narzo Power 5G has a 10,001mAh battery, and the Infinix Note 60 Pro also targets battery life. The closest direct comparison is the Moto G77 Power, which launched in India at ₹25,999 with a 7,000mAh battery. That is almost the same money as the M8 Power’s base model for a smaller cell.
