The Poco M8 5G is the base model of Poco’s M8 lineup, an entry-to-mid-range phone from Xiaomi’s sub-brand. It has a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen at 120Hz in a slab body with curved edges, the same design as the M8 Pro. The global version runs a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage; India also gets 6GB and 128GB variants. It was released on January 8, 2026.
The battery is 5,520 mAh, charged at 45W over a cable, with 18W reverse wired charging. Poco has not published a usable-capacity number. Software is Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0, four OS upgrades and six years of security patches. One database lists an Antutu score of 862,268.
In India the phone launched at Rs 18,999 (6GB + 128GB), Rs 19,999 (8GB + 128GB) and Rs 21,999 (8GB + 256GB). One retailer now lists the 8GB + 256GB model at ₹27,999 after a rise on 24 Aug 2026, so launch pricing no longer applies everywhere. In the Philippines the SRP is Php12,999 for 8GB/256GB and Php14,999 for 8GB/512GB. It fits someone who cares more about the screen and update length than the camera count. Within Poco, the M8 Pro is listed with a 6,500 mAh battery and 100W charging, while the M8x 5G drops to an LCD, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and a bigger 7,900mAh battery. The Moto G86 Power and realme P4 are the rivals, and both score below the M8 on Antutu (677,110 and 775,973 against 862,268). The realme P4x is the direct comparison and scores higher at 974,831.
