The Poco X8 is a mid-range 5G phone from Poco, Xiaomi’s value-focused sub-brand. It has a standard slab body with a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen (1280 x 2772, 120Hz). It measures 163.45 x 78.27 x 8.6mm and weighs 223g. Inside is a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, paired with 6GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB or 12GB/256GB. It ships with Android 16 and HyperOS 3. The rear has a 50MP main camera with OIS and a 2MP depth sensor, and the front camera is 16MP. The dust and water ratings are IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K. This is the base model of the X8 family. It reached global markets after the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max, which launched earlier this year.
The global model has an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery (13% silicon). It charges at 67W over USB-C and can push out 22.5W to other devices through reverse wired charging. Poco says the cell keeps at least 80% of its capacity after 1,600 cycles, and claims more than two days per charge. That claim comes from Poco’s own testing, not independent tests. Usable capacity hasn’t been published.
The India model is different. It has a 9,000mAh battery managed by Xiaomi’s Surge G1 chip, still at 67W. Check which version your store is selling.
In Europe the X8 starts at €399.99 for 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB costs €449.99. In Malaysia the prices are RM1,499 and RM1,699, with promo prices of RM1,299 and RM1,499 from 9 September. In India it costs Rs 29,999, or Rs 26,999 after launch coupons. I couldn’t find confirmed Nigerian pricing.
This phone suits someone who charges less often than they upgrade: a commuter, a student, or anyone who wants a big screen and a waterproof body without paying for a faster chip.
Inside Poco’s range, it sits below the X8 Power (Rs 35,999 in India, 10,000mAh, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, 100W charging) and the X8 Pro (Rs 39,999 in India). Outside it, the closest rival I could verify is the Realme P4 Power, one of the few phones in India with a 10,000mAh battery. For a second rival, the Samsung Galaxy A-series is the usual alternative at this price, but I haven’t matched a specific model or price. Check that before publishing.
For a direct comparison, use the Poco X8 vs Realme P4 Power. Both are priced around the same level and both put battery size first.
